Our Mission

Our mission is to locate individuals and families that are in dyer need of assistance.   We then make these cases public and give you the opportunity to make a difference. As soon as the required amount is collected, we take the necessary action(s) to assist the individual(s).  Our website is updated on the details of each case as required.

We seek cases that meet the following criteria:

  • - Situation of individual(s) / family must be severe.
  • - Must not be caused by drug / alcohol abuse.
  • - Must not have any kind of reputation of deceit / fraud.
  • - Must be doing everything they can to overcome their situation.

We are a non-profit organization that makes every attempt to operate with full transparency. Our aim is to minimize administration costs for all cases to maximize the benifit of your donations.

Full financial details for every case are made available on our website. This includes the budgeted and actual costs of each case along with collected donations.

Do you help only people from Sikh community?
No. We are the Sikhs who have organized themselves for the betterment of Humanity and no religion is above humanity.  We do not discriminate on the basis of cast, color, creed, gender, religion or on any other grounds. If a case meets our selection criteria then we go ahead and provide help.

 

Where is Sikhs for Humanity based?

Sikhs For Humanity is based out of Brampton, Canada. And have been spreading it’s operations in other countries.

 

Will I be getting any tax benefits on the amount donated?

We are currently in the process of getting Sikhs for Humanity registered for charitable status.  We will begin to issue tax receipts once we receive charitable status.

 

How do you select a case?

We select cases based on the criteria listed here.

 

What’s the general profile of people working for Sikhs for Humanity?

Generally, our team consists of young professionals.  Most importantly our team consists of those who want to share their time and resources with those in need.

 

Why and when was this initiative taken or why was Sikhs for humanity formed?

The initiative was taken in 2003 when we closed around 200 cases.  We have re-launched this service through the web in 2009.
